Within the Health Information Management and Medical Records department, the HIM Director will lead operations supporting accurate, secure, timely, and compliant patient information across the care continuum. The Director of Health Information Management will guide medical records workflows, coding and documentation quality, release-of-information practices, privacy standards, data governance, EHR optimization, regulatory compliance, and performance improvement.
The HIM Director will report to senior hospital leadership and receive the executive support, technology resources, and cross-functional partnership needed to advance departmental goals. Responsibilities include leading and mentoring Health Information Management staff, maintaining compliance with HIPAA and applicable state and federal regulations, overseeing coding accuracy and record completion, supporting audits, monitoring key performance indicators, and collaborating on revenue cycle and quality initiatives. The Director of Health Information Management will work alongside friendly nurses, physicians, finance and revenue cycle professionals, clinical leaders, compliance experts, and a diverse healthcare team that values respect, accountability, and practical problem-solving.
